The last few days haven’t seen the best movements for meme coins as the market favored Bitcoin, which broke the $100,000 mark. The top meme tokens suffered from lackluster momentum, resulting in equally lackluster growth. Still, some meme coins saw new highs. In particular, the seven Solana meme coins attracted attention. Here are the changes in prices…

Memecoin statement came from Solana founder
Meanwhile, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko recently put the rise of meme coins to the stress test to make the blockchain more resilient, turning its past disruptions into opportunities for engineering innovation. Speaking at the Emergence conference in Prague, Yakovenko provided insights into how the network has evolved and grown under pressure. During the discussion, Yakovenko compared the impact of meme coins to NFTs, saying:
Happy meme coin traders, because those who can overcome their spam will inherit the metaverse. As with NFTs… we are blessed to have solved a number of engineering problems with meme coins. This just makes the network and all systems more robust.
Yakovenko underlined that Solana’s developers have a reputation for tackling extraordinarily difficult problems. This ethos, which Yakovenko called “chewing glass,” has been instrumental in creating a high-performance blockchain that can withstand the rigors of unpredictable use. After undergoing a series of publicized outages in 2022, the Solana network has significantly increased its reliability. In 2023, it experienced only one outage, which occurred in February, shortly after the launch of Pump.fun, a meme coin-focused platform, in January. The reduction in downtime marks a dramatic improvement compared to the network’s previous performance. It also shows that the team’s iterative approach is working.
