Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has been selling some popular meme coin projects recently. Most recently, Buterin made headlines by selling a dog-themed meme coin called ESTEE. The price of ESTEE had surged by 440% in a single day. Vitalik’s move garnered widespread attention within the community.
Vitalik Buterin Earned 116,306 USDC from This Meme Coin Project
According to data from blockchain analytics platform Nansen, Vitalik Buterin sold 50.54 billion ESTEE tokens from his wallet (0xab58…9aec9b) and received 116,306 USDC in return. After Vitalik’s sale, there was a brief dip in the price. However, the price of ESTEE quickly rebounded to around 0.00001903. The daily trading volume saw a remarkable 9141% increase, reaching 3.16 million.
ESTEE is a dog-themed meme coin inspired by Shiba Inu (SHIB). In addition, another meme coin called VICKY, referred to as the “daughter” of ESTEE, also saw significant trading volume during this time. Besides ESTEE, Vitalik Buterin sold other meme coins in the last 24 hours. Buterin received 5.2 ETH in exchange for 340 LDOG tokens and sold 10 trillion DINU tokens for 4181 USDC.
Are Vitalik Buterin’s Sales Routine?
Buterin generally sells meme coins he receives as gifts from various projects at regular intervals. The proceeds from these sales are typically donated. Therefore, this move by Buterin is seen as one of his regular strategies rather than an unusual action.
Vitalik Buterin is also known for his contributions to social responsibility projects, not just meme coin transactions. Last week, he participated in the “Wildlife Sponsorship Program” of the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand, officially adopting a pygmy hippopotamus named Moo Deng. This news led to a 70% increase in the value of the meme coin named MOODENG.
Furthermore, Buterin discussed the potential threats to humanity posed by AI superintelligence in his latest blog post. He also suggested limiting access to computational resources. Vitalik’s use of proceeds from meme coin sales for such social and charitable initiatives is noteworthy. Buterin’s recent sales have shown how quickly and speculatively the meme market can react, while his strategic moves continue to spark discussions within the crypto community.
Buterin’s Previous Meme Coin Sales
Buterin recently emptied the LDOG wallet along with ESTEE. After these sales, coin prices did not experience a significant decline. LDOG is still trading at a 70% gain on most centralized exchanges. As we reported at Kriptokoin.com, Aave Chan’s founder criticized the Ethereum team for unnecessary sales just yesterday.
