The cryptocurrency market has been very active lately, and this activity is reflected not only in prices but also in developer activity. When we look at the last 30 days, according to the data of cryptocurrency analysis company Santiment, the altcoins that showed the most interest from developers became clear. While there are some surprises on this list, the absence of Ethereum is also notable. Here is the list including LINK coin, OP, ADA

Developers’ favorite: LINK coin and these cryptos exist

According to data from Santiment, during May developers were focused on the following altcoin projects:

  • Hedera (HBAR) – 552: Hedera, which has recently come to the fore with its partnership with the US Federal Reserve, stands out as the altcoin with the highest developer score.
  • Optimism (OP) – 543: Optimism, one of Ethereum’s scaling solutions, is a project that stands out in terms of developer interest.
  • Cardano (ADA) – 539: Cardano, which has been in development for a long time, ranks fourth with its stable developer activity.
  • Chainlink (LINK) – 442: Chainlink, which offers an Oracle service, has a critical role in connecting smart contracts to the real world, which makes it attractive for developers.
  • Starknet (STRK) – 384: Starknet, which has been on the rise in recent months, aims to eliminate the disadvantages of Ethereum with layer-2 solutions.
  • Status (SNT) – 355: Mobile messaging application Status has recently attracted attention with its investments in NFTs and decentralized finance (DeFi).
  • Internet Computer (ICP) – 336: ICP, which set out with the aim of becoming the decentralized internet infrastructure of Web3, also attracts attention from developers.
  • Cosmos (ATOM) – 291: Enabling interaction with many different blockchains, Cosmos stands out with its focus on interoperability.
  • Polkadot (DOT) – 274: Similarly, Polkadot is a project focused on connecting different blockchains, which makes it attractive for developers.
  • Kusama (KSM) – 274: Polkadot’s testnet, Kusama, serves as a platform for testing innovative ideas, which attracts developer interest.

The absence of Ethereum and the rise of layer-2 solutions

It is noteworthy that Ethereum is not included in this list. This can be interpreted as a reaction to Ethereum’s scaling problems and high transaction fees. Layer-2 networks such as Optimism and Starknet on the list aim to solve these problems of Ethereum, and this attracts great attention from developers. Although Starknet had not been featured much in previous developer lists, it made a significant jump, reaching 5th place on the May list. This shows the recent increasing popularity of Starknet and its adoption by developers.

Büyük Piyasa Oyuncularının Dikkatini Çeken Önde Gelen Altcoinler

There is also criticism that developer activity is artificially inflated on Github pages of cryptocurrency projects, with some spammy code changes. Santiment states that it uses a special method to filter these spam activities and thus provides realistic data. The last 30 days of developer activity data shows which projects stand out in the cryptocurrency world and in which areas there may be developments in the future. This information can be an important guide for investors and developers.
