There is no clear information from official sources about the ban. We will be updating the details on this page.

Update: UK Bans Meme-Token Platform Due to Lack of Registration

On December 3, the UK regulator FCA issued a warning, stating that the platform could be “restricted” due to its lack of registration. In its official announcement, the FCA wrote, “This firm may be providing or promoting financial services or products without our permission. You should avoid dealing with this firm and beware of scams.”

The statement also highlighted that the project provided incomplete contact details, saying, “Some firms may give incorrect contact details such as postal addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses. They may change these contact details over time.” The UK regulator advised users not to engage with the platform.

Approximately three days after the notice, Pump.fun faced official trading restrictions in the UK.
British users shared screenshots on social media confirming they could no longer access the platform.

Why Was Pump.fun Banned in the UK?

According to the FCA’s announcement on December 3, Pump.fun is deemed unreliable for the following reasons:

  • Providing or Promoting Unauthorized Services: The platform may be providing or promoting financial services or products without FCA’s authorization.
  • Operating as an Unauthorized Firm: Pump.fun is not authorized by the FCA and may be targeting individuals in the UK.
  • Lack of Financial Protection: Transactions with the platform do not provide access to the Financial Ombudsman Service in case of complaints.
  • No Access to Compensation Schemes: Users are not protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) in case of issues. This means it’s unlikely users will recover their funds if the firm goes out of business.
  • Misleading Contact Information: The firm provides false or third-party contact details to appear legitimate.
  • Frequent Changes to Contact Information: The platform changes its contact details over time, making it harder to track.

At the time of writing, the FCA has not released an official statement clarifying why the platform was specifically banned. The points above are based on the regulator’s December 3 warning. The FCA has yet to specify which rules the platform violated.
