Sony Block Solutions Labs (Sony BSL), part of the Sony Group, has officially launched the Soneium Mainnet. This Layer-2 Blockchain empowers creators, fans and communities to protect their rights and connect globally. It aims to foster the creation of an open internet that transcends borders. Meanwhile, the blacklisting of memecoins has sparked controversy.
Sony BSL officially launches Soneium Mainnet!
With the launch of Soneium Mainnet, the possibilities to shape the future of digital interactions are endless. The launch of Soneium Mainnet is not the only exciting news coming from Sony. The company unveiled two major projects that promise to spur innovation and growth in the Soneium ecosystem.
The first major project is the Fan Marketing Platform provided by SNFT Inc. This cutting-edge tool harnesses the power of NFTs to help content creators, brands and businesses reward fans and optimize their marketing strategies. Leveraging data analytics, the platform enables more personalized interactions with fans, making marketing efforts more effective and rewarding.
The second exciting startup is S.BLOX, a crypto asset exchange service provided by S.BLOX Inc. This platform is designed specifically for creators and brands, giving them access to the world of digital assets in a secure and efficient environment. The goal of S.BLOX is to unlock new potential for creators and brands. It also aims to foster innovation within the Soneium ecosystem while enabling them to interact with the ever-growing cryptocurrency world.
Soneium Mainnet empowers creators and brands
As you’ve been following on Kriptokoin.com, Sony’s launch of the Soneium Mainnet and related projects comes at a time when blockchain technology is reshaping the way people interact online. By empowering content creators and brands with these new tools, Sony is helping to level the playing field and create new opportunities for those ready to dive into the decentralized world.
Whether you’re a content creator looking to reward your fans, a brand hoping to leverage Blockchain for marketing, or someone eager to explore crypto assets, the Soneium ecosystem offers something for everyone.
The debate at the center of Soneium: Blacklisting Memecoins!
Blockchain analyst alon at 𝕏 was one of the first to comment on the issue. According to him, “Sony’s new Ethereum L2 is actively blacklisting memecoins they don’t like. It also instantly reduces everyone’s position to 0.” He then expanded his concerns, questioning whether other “centralized L2s will do the same.” In this regard, he noted that it threatens users’ freedom to trade.
However, not all crypto traders share Alon’s concerns. For example, the self-proclaimed product KOL under the pseudonym chainyoda called Soneium’s censorship “a feature, not a bug”. “Application Blockchains (…) should be able to choose their own compliance/risk parameters,” he said. This position has also been challenged by prominent Blockchin developers such as Robert Sasu, who cited alon’s post and chainyoda’s response. Accordingly, Sasu made the following statement:
This is not a feature. Centralization has never been a feature of the decentralized public ledger. This world has always been and should always be about full freedom and full permissionless nature. (…) The blockchain world started as a fight against censorship and we should not invite censorship back into the game.
